Welch Library

Located at the corner of Monument St. and Wolfe St., the Welch Library serves the informational needs of the faculty, staff, and students of Johns Hopkins Medicine, Nursing and Public Health. The Welch Library offers many different services including citation management, workshops, grant management, information searching and more.

Parking

GSA Subsidized Parking – A limited number of subsidized parking spaces are provided in three campus garages (Washington, Caroline or Ashland) for graduate students at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for $55 per month, which is deducted from your paycheck. To apply for a subsidized parking space, please see the following directions. You cannot obtain on-site subsidized parking by going to the parking office. Contact the Graduate Student Association at [email protected] for more information.

Non-subsidized parking – Available in a campus garage for $120 per month. To apply, please visit the parking office in the Nelson/Harvey Building, room 108. In addition to single-driver parking passes, carpool parking passes are available.

Commuter Parking Lots – Two satellite lots are available for student use, both of which are free. Frequent shuttle service is provided from the lots to campus, but these lots are only open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. For space on a satellite lot, please visit the business office in the Miller Research Building, room 131.

Monument Lot: Located at 3700 E. Monument St., about 1.3 miles east of campus, this lot is convenient for drivers coming from Interstate 95. A $20 refundable deposit is required for a lot pass.
Fallsway Lot: This parking lot is at 545 N. High St. and is convenient to Interstate 83.

Free “After-Hours” On-Site Parking – Garage parking, except at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, is open to all Johns Hopkins Medicine employees free of charge from 4 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and on weekends and holidays. You must swipe your badge to enter and exit the garages. If your badge does not work for after-hours parking, contact the Johns Hopkins Medicine Parking Office in the Nelson/Harvey Building, room 108.

Please note that each garage has different evening and weekend hours. The McElderry Street, Orleans Street, Ashland and Rutland garages are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Transportation

Hopkins Shuttle System – Hopkins offers numerous shuttles for faculty, students and staff that provide safe and convenient transportation between campuses and to neighborboods surrounding campus. Shuttles are free, and require ID badge to ride.

Lyft-JHU Saferide Program – Pre-doctoral students are elible for the Hopkins Saferide program in partnership with Lyft. Free rides will be available from 5pm-7am (7 days/week), to students who live within a 1.5 mile radius from campus. Rides must be taken to/from the East Baltimore campus and to/from the student’s residence.

Public Transportation – Baltimore has several methods of public transportation available, including the local buses, commuter buses, Light Rail, MARC train, and the metro.

Security

Campus security force consists of security professionals and off-duty Baltimore City Police Officers. All buildings on campus are staffed with security personel and require ID badge for access. Security officers are stationed on campus 24/7. Security escort services around campus are free to students and Hopkins affiliates. Just call and a Hopkins security officer will meet and escort you to your destination on campus.
